Our Approach
The hallmark of our approach towards psychological healing is compassion for clients feelings and reverence for their autonomy. We help clients overwhelmed by self-criticism, feelings of shame and guilt to recognize self-criticism and develop techniques for defusing it when it arises. We focus on helping them regulate their mood that will ultimately lead to feelings of safety, self-acceptance, and comfort. Visualizing their internal critic or identifying compassionate images to call to mind during moments of self-criticism aim to help regulate mood and lead to feelings of safety, self-acceptance, and comfort.
Providing clients with a sense of safety and ultimate trust that they are the sole keepers of their story is crucial for the therapeutic relationship. Privacy and confidentiality are the pinnacles of our approach working in the mental health profession. The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) protects “protected health information” (PHI), including mental health information, and limits when it can be used or disclosed. We are required by law to protect the privacy and confidentiality of mental health information and are guided by the HIPPA rules regarding the use and disclosure of your mental health information.
